I am trying to find as much as I can on the following Last Names as possible:
All of the last names are in my family tree some time down the line. My fathers parents last name's are Whittenburg and Hunt. My mothers parents last names are Dean and Holmes. I know my line of Whittenburgs came to Texas from Arkansas

Hunt - Irish
Cook - ?
Dean - Irish or Dutch
Holmes - Irish or Dutch
Cochran - Irish
Pankeys - French Huguenots

I almost forgot to mention, there are some Hunt's in the other side of my family. They are all in Monroe Co, TN. You might want to look there. |

My Whittenburg (I have only found two so far Frances C Whittenburg married to John H Lewis) was in AL before moving to TX.
leewannaFrances and John Lewis were my great great grandparents.
Frances may have been born in TN as her parents were born there but I have not been able to find her father's name and only have her mother's first name, Rachel.
They were in Claysville, Marshall Co, AL in the 1880 census with Frances' brother William living with them. He was 22 y/o in this census and was born in AL.
My great grandfather James William (Bill) Floyd worked for Red River Co, TX bring settlers to that region by wagon train in the early 1900's. When he took the family to Texas he came back with a wife, their daughter Alice Frances Lewis.
Some of their relatives probably moved with them and some may have stayed in AR when they made the trip then later moved to TX.
You also might want to check TN, AL and GA for other Whittenburg's who later moved to TX.
Also, one of Frances and John's daughters, Georgia Ann Lewis married Thomas Jefferson Stanphill in TX.
