I love your profile picture: Lone Start State Flag! Woo Hoo!

Texas folks are close to my heart! Both my kids are native Texans . . . and lots of my ancestors made history "deep in the heart" of Texas :-)

Oh I am so belated . . . Hope the Holiday Season is most blessed for you and your family! I feel like I am in slow motion, but I guess it'll all come together. It always seems to somehow. (shrug)

I so enjoyed your note of your roots in Washington State! I am a native of North Idaho - spent many a Saturday shopping in Spokane, about an hour away.

Lived 16+ years in the DFW area. Our kids were born in Dallas County & Denton County. Now, we're in the desert heat of Tucson, AZ - but back near mountains! There is an 8,000 ft mountain right over us, and often has a dusting of snow in winter. I go up and gather pine cones just for the smell in my fireplace!

Hope your healing continues steady. Take care. Hugs, Lynn

    My Roots

    Saturday, June 21, 2008, 10:29 AM [General]

My family is mainly from Germany, France (Alsace) and Britain. The main brick wall is my great greatgrandfather, WIlliam Macy, born on 08 Mar 1895 in Schuylkill Falls area of PA. The first record of him is 1900 census in Brooklyn. His wife was Christine Brodt from Alsace. All census records I find for him show he was born in PA, his parents in Germany. On his death certificate, they were listed as Joseph & Anna Macy, but have found no trace of them.

On the Brodt side, I was blessed to find a distant cousin in France who sent me his family tree which helped me with that branch immensly. Still looking in Ohio and PA for other relatives.

For the Richters, we have a lot but seem to have hit a bump on the village in the Sohland area they came from. There were 4 brothers that supposedly came to USA, we knew only 2 names, Ernest Gustav and August Robert. They settled in Cass Co. Nebraska.

And now we have found, from an older Richter relative that the other two were probably WIlhelm and Karl (Carl). We do not know when they arrived in USA, but the story is Karl went to Oregon (Probably Multomah area) and WIlhelm (possibly middle name of Ernst) went to Philly where he worked for a newspaper. So far no luck on finding them, but a couple of possiblilies.

If you belong to any of these families or think you may be, let me know, I am very willing to share any information that I have!
