I have jsut recently found some more of my Elder connections. I found many of them were born in Richmond Virginia. This was a bit of a surprise since I had thought they originated in North Carolina and moved to Georgia and then Alabama. Betty |

Just joined/found the site today!
PamBOY, do I have a brick wall...my great grandfather...can't find him anywhere after the 1900 census! No family members left to ask and evidently haven't found the fork in the right road to find him.
Here is what I have found for him. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
WILKINSON WITTEN BOWLING
B: DEC 1865 IN THE MAIDEN SPRINGS AREA OF TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA TO LINDSEY AND RUTH M. BARNETT BOWLING.
MARRIED: AUG 1891 IN TAZEWELL, TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA TO NANNIE MAE LOCKHART
For Nannie Mae I have everything except a copy of the marriage record which was distroyed in a court house fire.
Through 1910 to 1930 on census, she is listed as widow twice, divorced on one. Her death certificate lists her as a widow. Family said she was a very bitter woman and was VERY strict.
Rumor is that:
1) Wilkinson just left.
2) He was killed in a coal mining accident.
I have contacted the Tazewell County Clerk of Courts but nothing could be located on him. I have searched all surrounding states and have searched "All States" without any luck at all. The ONLY one person who's dates seemed to fit was from Utah, but that didn't pan out after I got his death certificate. I have looked up all his siblings that I could locate info on to see if he was w/anyone when a census was taken...no luck...
Does anyone have suggestions??????
I have a subscription to ancestry.com, World Vital Records, and FootNotes.com if I can do searches for anyone.
Genealogy is my addiction...my getaway...my husband is disabled and I had to quit work 4 years ago to care for him so I spend a lot of time on the computer when I can...
Look forward to hearing from anyone!
