I "google" the names of people in my tree. As a result, I found out that their information had historic value. For example, I googled my husbands gr-gr-gr-grandfathers name and found out that Abraham Lincoln had defended him as a lawyer, before he became president, in a court case. Those records are in a historic museum in Springfield, IL. Had I not googled him, we would have never known that.
LindaI also found a second cousins military i.d. service book, which had genealogical info, and a picture for sale on an U.K. auction site. I subsequently purchased it.
I will ocassionally search ebay using family surnames. I found for my one cousin a catalog from a company her dad owned for sale, she was thrilled about the find and purchased it.
I try to think outside the box...
