Best genealogy moment
A few months ago in a myspace group, genealogy came up in topic. Turns out the moderator is a cousin. Strange.
Hobbies
Genealogy of course, but that is a winter time hobby /obsession that I do when the snow flies, at 8,000 foot altitude it snows a lot.

TV
Not much time for TV but when I do it's usually Discovery Channel. Love those Deadliest Catch Guys! I have gotten hooked on Greys Anatomy and idol.
Hi Jeannie
CindyI am doing some research on the area of Abiquiu New Mexico and the Taos Valley area. I am curious about that area, the people who lived there in the early 1700's, mostly Spanish I believe but also some Spanish/Indian mix families. My interest stems from the following story I have come across in my family searching. I have quite a bit of info on most of the families but am still doing some searching. I would like more info on the land and all the people of that time , not just those I connect with. Any suggestions for reading material or places I can visit online would be much appriciated! Looke forward to any help you may be able to give...!
In some sources the name can be found as de Torres and in some it is just Torres. Jacinta Maria Torres was captured by Comanches in her parents ,Marcial Torres, home in Taos Valley New Mexico on 8/4/1760 along with her daughter and several other women and children in the household. Several of the male family members were killed in this raid. It seems that the surviving family members believed the captives to be dead, and possibly the captives thought that all the family were killed as it appears that Jacinta may have never contacted her family after she was brought to Arkansas and sold to the man she married. Of course as we have learned through history she may have known she would not be well recieved after being an indian captive and chose not to try to contact her family. According to info we have compiled She was previously married to Julian Jaques in New Mexico who was killed during the raid. They had a daughter Francisca Jaques who was captured with her mother but nothing is known about what happened to her.
