I found a helpful website that appears to be trying to make information available for free.  They are asking for volunteers to help index the lists for the site and in exchange I believe you can view the records.  I've not volunteered YET but was still able to find some names on their lists from a census.

I'm a descendant of Thomas Dexter (aka Farmer Dexter) who settled in Lynn, Massachusetts as well as Patience Brewster, whose father, William Brewster, arrived on the Mayflower.

Currently I'm looking for my great grandparents.  My great grandfathers last name was Prout.  He was married to Grace White (or Whitehead) and had a daughter, Norma.  They were divorced when my Grandma was young and was never in contact.  I'm guessing his birthdate would be around 1900.  Grandma won't talk about him so I'm researching this without her knowledge and information is sketchy.

I've received new information on Grace White (Whitehead).  I know she was born July 30, 1901 and died Nov 8, 1997.  I've been told she was born in Concord, Mass but was unable to find her via an online search on the Mass archives website.  I've applied for a copy of her death certificate and SS application.  We believe her parents were Canadian and that her mother may have been of indian descent.  Grace's mom lived with her for a period of time to help her raise my grandmother Norma.
