Wow it's been a while since I've been on here. I am so thankful I found my username and password back. I've missed it! I hope I can break some brick walls down this winter!

    Wo sind sie Geblieben?

    Sunday, January 11, 2009, 8:43 PM [General]

Wo sind sie Geblieben? Where did they stay? This is a series of books by Boyken and Boyken Partners Titonka IA.  It has the genealogy and history of Ostfriesen in America.  I believe it has histories of some of my ancestors. I believe there are two or three books.

Does anyone have access to these books? I would be most grateful if someone could do a lookup for me.  I attempted to try to get these on an interlibrary loan but the librarian that I spoke to acted like it would be impossible to get these to my local library. Not sure why.

    Thanks,

    Best Wishes and Happy Digging!

    Research etiquette ????

    Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 1:04 AM [General]

Ok I am getting about to my wits end on my Schultz brick wall.

From my information I am assuming that my Schultz ancestors probably had relatives in the Humboldt, Richardson County, Nebraska area, because once they left Germany they came to Nebraska fairly directly.

My question, is it appropriate or not , to obtain records of some one you suspect  or guess could be a member of the family.   There are other Schultz families in the area and I was hoping that maybe I could approach my brickwall that way.  But being a novice began to wonder if it was appropriate to look at records(wills, probate, death certificates etc.) on a hunch, guess, or shot in the dark.

    Thanks,

    Help! Native American Research

    Thursday, October 2, 2008, 1:14 AM [General]

My Great-Great Grandfather Jann Fossler was married when he came to  America from Germany.  His wife died about six weeks after they came here.  They had one young son. Jann then married again, family lore is that he married someone from the Sac and Fox tribe. No one knows what happened to her.  Biography states he "contracted" a second marriage.  No children from this union. That's all, not she died, they divorced ,nothing. Jann then married my great-great grandmother Antje in 1875.

My question, are there good records for native americans? Sac and Fox? I would really like to know what happened to her.  Also on a random late night search I did find a U.S. Indian Census Schedule 1885-1940. And I found a Wm. G. Fosler (Ah-Pe-Tock Fosler) he was born abt. 1870 his mother's name was Susan Greyeyes she was 47. They belonged to the Sac and Foxes of the Miss? Agency Sac and Fox . The census date was June 30 1890. Jann Fossler lived on the Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas border. The date of birth of Wm. G. Fosler also fits when Jann would have been with his second wife. Also Jann had sons named William and George with my great-great grandmother. Maybe no connection at all who knows.

Any ideas where I could look?  Thanks!

    Best wishes,
