Hello, welcome to Texas and Renee's Family Genealogy.  My name is Renee Smelley and I am married and have two grown children.  I have been working on my family tree since January 1999 when I signed on the Internet.  A cousin from my husband's family got me interested in looking for my roots and I have been addicted every since.

Soon after starting my family tree I took a Online HTML course and in April 1999 I made my first genealogy web page.  When RootsWeb started Freepages I moved my webpages from Homestead to RootsWeb in June 2001.  I first started out with the Family Tree Maker pages for uploading my family tree, but when RootsWeb started the WorldConnect Project I moved my family tree there.

In June 2001 I became a volunteer at USGenWeb in the TXGenWeb Project having been a county coordinator for McMullen, Live Oak and Uvalde Counties until 2006.  I also served on the TXGenWeb COM as a regional surfer for about a year and volunteered in the Texas Archives and Texas Tombstone Project for a couple of years.  I gave up those volunteer positions a couple of years ago when I started working.  I still volunteer information from the books and resources that I own and I still like helping others with their genealogy.

Right now, I am enjoying some time for myself and having fun researching my Texas Roots.   In the past several months I have been doing some indexing for the new LDS site at http://pilot.familysearch.org   where they are putting up the index as well as the records.   I also keep up with family and friends at MySpace.  If you would like to view my genealogy pages, visit MySpace or search my family tree the links are in my website links on the left.

I hope you have a great day and Happy Genealogy Hunting.

    Renee
