My father-in-law, Oliver Wesley Huckeba, Jr., born October 27, 1925,  passed away yesterday, January 14, 2010, in Oregon. My husband is beside himself with grief. Since we live in Alabama, he can't make it to Oregon for the funeral. His brother is taking care of all the arrangements and will have him cremated sometime today and later have his ashes buried next to their mother. I feel so bad for my husband. The last time he saw his father was in 2005 when he went to Oregon to visit him after he had a stroke. He told me then that that would probably be the last time he saw his father.

    My Greatgrandson

    Saturday, February 28, 2009, 2:45 PM [General]

My greatgrandson Dakota Blake Bell was born January 15, 2009. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 15 ozs. He is soooo cute. His parents are my grandson Christopher and Megan. Blake's older sister is Madaline Brooke. She turned a year old October 16, 2008.

My avatar is a picture of my mom on the left, my grandmother holding Christopher, who is Dakota Blake's father, and me on the right. This is one of my favorite pictures.

I added 2 photos of Dakota Blake. One with Pawpaw and the other one with me, my grandson Christopher and my greatgrandson Dakota Blake.

I guess we will be calling him Blake.

    Death in My Family

    Sunday, November 2, 2008, 8:35 PM [General]

I lost my beautiful cousin Halloween night. Debbie's hubby found her on the couch. He thought she was asleep and when he tried to wake her she wouldn't. They believe it was a brain anorism. She was 2 years younger than me. Her sister called me early Saturday morning to let me know. What was so strange about this is I had a naggy headache all night and couldn't sleep. Around 3 or 3:30 Saturday morning I got up, took some ibuprofin and laid down on the couch. I looked up and at the foot of the couch there was a white apparition that looked like large white gauzy angel wings. There is nothing in my living room that would cast a shadow like that. I stared at it a few moments then fell asleep. But it didn't scare me. It was more calming than anything. Dennis woke me up when he got up and told me to go to bed.  About thirty minutes later he came in and woke me again and told me my cousin Linda was on the phone with bad news. This is so sad. My cousin Linda thinks her sister Debbie came to me Saturday morning and she believes it was Debbie letting me know everything was going to be alright. I only wish I could go to her funeral but I don't travel well here lately. They live in Chicago and I'm here in Alabama. I will be there in thought and spirit though and have sent some flowers.
