Time in history
My favorite time in History would be a toss-up between the 1860's-1890's and 1910's-1930's. Both were a time of great changes and stark contrasts -- and let's face it, some pretty cool outfits! I am still not convinced that I am not descended from a mix of rogue cowboys and gangsters. This is perpetuated by the stories my Nana's brother, Uncle Les, told about Pretty Boy Floyd coming in the backdoor of his restaurant.
Hobbies
Hobbies? I'd like to say that genealogy is my hobby, but it's more of an obsession. Hmmm... I'll have to think on that one!

I am thoroughly confused. When I started doing genealogy, I had to search to find sites that dealt with family history. Now that I've been through ancestry.com nine ways to Sunday, I'm trying to find a new site that might have different information that I will find helpful. Somehow, as the prices have gone up over at Ancestry, the availability of new information isn't as forthcoming as I'd hoped. So, I've been all over the net. I've been to OneFamily, newspaperarchives.com, genealogy.com, etc. But, how do you know who you can trust with your information? And, who's to say that after that "free trial" the well won't run dry? I've seen several sites, all of which offer something different. The one I'm most interested in is called GenealogyBank.com. It has a 30 day trial,(for $10) and is only $70 A YEAR! That sounds great, and I really want to trust it... especially since it has a LOT of newspapers in which my family may (or may not) be found. Still, I can't help but hear, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Gee, thanks, Dad.
I don't want to pay a zillion dollars for public information, and I don't want a bunch of "free" information that is unsubstantiated. I just want to continue learning about my family. If you have gone through this, and have some sage advice for a fellow genietracker, PLEASE help.

Welcome to my new page! This is the latest in a long line of evidence to prove that I am officially addicted to genealogy. Ah... and to be surrounded by a bunch of people that have the same disease is great! I can not wait to meet extended family, make new friends and learn some new tips. Those are my hopes for this page. So enjoy the pictures; share a story; and remember those who made it easier for us by doing this great search the hard way -- without COMPUTERS!
I love you, Nana! I hope you're watching and that I make you proud!
RIP
