    Casino In Gettysburg

    Sunday, May 30, 2010, 11:45 PM [General]

In case anyone hadn't seen or heard, their trying to build a casino at Gettysburg.

This can not be allowed to happen. Hallowed ground like that was not preserved for such things.

It is to be cherished and shared for generations to come, not turned into a trash littered town.

Our relatives who fought there must be turning over in their graves as well as or fore fathers at the thought of such a terrible thing.

PLEASE check out this link nocasinogettysburg.org/ and sign the petition. Pass it to everyone you know and have them do the same.

We can not aloow this to happen.

    Again PLEASE act now

    New cousin??

    Wednesday, November 11, 2009, 10:08 PM [General]

Looking like I have a new cousin.

He would be connected thru the Godbey name. His mother was the daughter of James Godbey who was married to my gr grandfathers daughter.

The Godbeys took the minor children of Mathew Mooney when he passed away. One of those children was my grandfather.

So as this goes forward info wise it may turn out to be a really good thing.

    Keep your fingers crossed.

    What a pain

    Thursday, November 5, 2009, 11:28 AM [General]

You know looking for dead people isn't always easy or fun. But when someone comesup with the brilliant idea to move a cemetery........

Josephine Stohner was buried Sept.10,1886 in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Philly.

Since that time the powers to be thought it would be good to move the graves and build a housing development....which is now torn down.

The graves were moved to 3 different cemeterys. Lawnview Cemetery
500 Huntingdon Pike Rockledge, PA 19046,   Pine Grove Memorial Park
and Cemetery  1475 West County Line Road  Hatboro, PA 19040,   Mount Peace Cemetery 3111 West Lehigh Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19132

The records are kept by the Lawnview Cemetery.

Anyone who might have access to these records it would help.

Heres a link to a brief story on the cemetery

"An expert is a man who has stopped thinking - he knows!" Right. But is what he knows really correct? W. Don Fletcher believed that clarity stopped thinking. He contended that clarity actually stops the process of learning because the brain automatically, once it sees a pattern and understands it, goes to the next thing and spends all its time on the stuff it doesn't understand. How can we avoid personal biases in our research and evaluation of evidence? Join us for some good ideas. Your Chat Hosts, Jayne McCormick and Dae Powell.

    New Wipfler info

    Friday, October 16, 2009, 1:00 PM [General]

Finally have info back to Germany on my Wipfler line.

Places of birth, fathers and mothers name. Sibling names with their dates of birth, christening dates and church name. In somecases dates of death when they were young.

In the cases of the ones married, it gives the spouse name, date of wedding plus church name.

Plus I finally got my photo request from findagrave for Alois and Annie Wipfler.

No headstone for anyone buried on the plot. Besides them buried there one son,John P. died age 13 1900,a daughter Mary died age 47 1931....she was in a TB hospital, and Hazel Hutchinson infant 1905....I believe she was a granddaughter.

So the fun continues with the Wipflers....lol

I wanted to let everyone know of the passing of Dawn Evans Stringer.

    www.ancestralspace.com/heskettpowers

She was a good friend with a great sense of humor. Loved her family and doing genealogy.

She will be dearly missed but never forgotten
