    One Step further

My devotion to family history has led me to collect and preserve any old documents, memorial cards, photographs and old postcards that I have come across over time so that they can saved from being lost forever. I have extracted some of the names and begun to add them to a family tree so that I could research some of their backgrounds. If you would like to look at the tree it can be found in the links on the right of this page.

I know what you mean about collecting the old memorabilia. I would hate to lose some of the things I have collected from my ancestors.

    My Memories

    Friday, July 11, 2008, 9:48 AM [General]

Our memories are everything but if we do not write them down they are nothing then, and will be lost forever more.  I don't want that to happen to mine I want them preserved so that they will be my contribution to history.

I also do not want the history of my family to be lost.  It is very important to me.

I agree whole-heartedly. My mother keeps telling me that she has a lot of stories of her grandparents but getting her to write them or tell them is like pulling teeth!

I agree completly. My grandmother (1914-2003) was the oldest living person in Grand Portage and she knew everything about everyone. People were always telling her to record her stories. She would never allow anyone to record her. I wish she would have because I just can't remember everything she told me.
