    Family

Families? most are ~~gone with the wind.

These days children do not even know their grandparents names not to mention the names of their great grandparents.  They do not know relationships or other important family designations either.  Family get togethers are mostly a thing of the past.  Families are spread far and wide.  Even though there are more forms of communication today than ever the families still do not keep in touch.  I am guilty of letting this fall by the wayside just like everyone else.  I do try to keep in touch with as many as I can though.

Our country is falling apart.  Moral decay is a big issue and many have attributed it to suppression of Bible study in the schools but what happened to Bible study in the homes.  What happened to discipline? Working for what you want or need instead of having it handed to you on a silver platter?  Most kids these days feel all they should have to do is ask Mom or Dad and get their hearts desire.  The sad thing is that is exactly what happens.  What children need these days is more discipline and tough love and less give, give, give, take, take, take.  Just because parents want their children to have an easier life than they had does not mean they have to spoil them.

The Bible tells us to honor our Fathers and our Mothers.  We should also honor our ancestors.  None should be forgotten.  Many graves are never visited, ancestors lay forgotten through the ages.  I feel so sad to visit a cemetery where the stones are broken, the ground littered with trash, maybe beer bottles or broken bits of glass, overgrown plots, etc.  These were once vital people, people that helped to settle this great country of ours, people that gave us our start in this world, people that should be honored.

Take your children, grandchildren, visit your cemeteries, visit your ancestors, tell their stories and make sure the info is passed from family member to family member.  You don't want to be the one forgotten do you?  Make sure your family are all aware of where their family lies, where each and every stone can be found.  And when you walk by that overgrown plot, pull a few weeds, pick up a bit of litter, leave a flower in remembrance of that vital person that once walked this earth.  Remember, some day that could be you!  Don't let the memory of you be ~~gone with the wind.
