Dont' you just love trying to figure out the censuses. It's just like a logic problem. With the misspelling of names, changing of birth dates/years and place, its always something to figure out and a big headache. Yesterday, I decided to start working on my Hougland family and found it spelled as Hoagland, Hoghland, Hoglana, and Hoglen. Then Christopher was also CC, Marietta was Hariette and Mary, etc..... It's enough to make your head hurt, but I love it!

I agree with you, Donna! My husband's mother's paternal line is Cauthen, but past ancestors were Cothran, Cotharn, Cauthern, etc. so its very difficult to find them in the census. Then his mother's maternal line is Halton, Haltom, Holtam, etc. Very frustrating sometimes, but well worth it when I do find a match. :) Don't you also hate when you know that they've lived in a certain area for many years and then can't find them in a certain census? LOL It's like they enjoyed changing their name so we couldn't track them! LOL
