    The "nuts"in my tree.

    Monday, August 18, 2008, 8:35 PM [General]

Just thought you would like to know a little about the "nuts" in my family trees.

    Materal Line.

My Grandfather, Matthew James Tierney 1892-1957 was one of at least three children. Michael Joseph 1888-1924 was killed while in the Navy, and a sister Marie or Mamie also died in the 1920's. Matthew first married Cecilia Campbell 189?-1922 and they had 4 children, Anne (still living), Jean, Matthew and Mary.  Cecilia and the last child, Mary died in Dec, 1922. Cecilia died of Labor Pnemonia after giving birth to Mary who died hours or days old.  He then married my Grandmother, Mary Corcoran 1897-1987.  Mary was the eldest of three sisters.  The other sisters were Catherine 1899-1987 and Rose1903/'04-199? (descrepancy with birth date).  Their parents were Michael Corcoran and Mary/Mae Colligan/Coligan.  Matthew and Mary had 6 children, Michael, John, Alfred (still living), Mom-Theresa (still living), Elizabeth and Cecilia (still living).

    Paternal Line.

My Grandmother, Anne Monica McBride 1903-1980 was born in Clontallgha, Co. Donegal, Ireland.  She was the 4th of 15/16 children of Denis McBride and Anne Logue.  Anne immigrated to the US in Oct, 1923 by herself and came through Ellis Island.  A brother and a couple of sisters also immigrated to the US much later in the century.  She met and married my Grandfather, Peter Austus Dwyer 1892-1970 here in the states.  Peter was born in Riverstown, Co Sligo, Ireland and he also arrived here in the US through Ellis Island with one of his sisters Elizabeth.  It was mentioned once that Peter is one of 23 children, but that hasn't been verified yet.  Anne and Peter had two children, Dad-Peter Joseph 1929-2004, and Anne Marie (still living).  Anne and Peter were divorced at some point in time and Anne remarried Daniel Manspeaker.  Dan is the grandfather I knew growing up.

Interesting tidbit on my Great Grandmother Logue's side of the family is that one of her brothers married a distant cousin of Joseph Kennedy, the father of JFK.

Just goes to show you that you never know what or who you are going to find in your family trees.  :0)
