Here is a web addy everyone who is researching Illinois needs to bookmark.

    www.cyberdriveillinois.co...

This is for the Secretary of State's online databases.

There are, unfortunately, gaps in records and NOT all counties have ALL records available--grr!--but such is life!

    Good luck with your research!

    Civil War Regiment Pictures...

I would love to have a picture of the 31st IL Inf.

    And

    The 131st IL Inf.

My Yarbrough-Yarber ancestors belonged to these regiments and I hope someone might know how to find one.

    Thanks

My GGG Grandfather Jesse Carter moved to Illinois from Missouri after the 1860 census & enlisted in the Union army. He & his wife & children lived there at least until 1885 when he died. His son Houston Carter & first wife Louisa are there EL Dorado,Saline Co,ILL 1870 census. Then later he married Martha Ann GOSS in Gallatin Co, ILL & that is where my G Grandpoa William Wiley Carter was born in Shawneetown,Gallatin Co,ILL.

    CARTER,Jesse b. 1822 TN

Parents: Henderson CARTER & Matilda TRIM Carter

wife of Jesse: Lavina unknown b. abt 1827 TN

I am at a brickwall trying to find Lavina's maiden name. Jesse & Lavina, son Houston 3, are in 1850 McMinn Co,TN. Jesse's parents, Henderson CARTER & Matilda TRIM Carter, have him also listed in their household even though he had his own household. That's what they did with all their children whether they had their own households or not. Sometime after 1850, they move to MO, where Lavina died about 1855-57 according to Jesse's military pension papers& is buried in Howell Co,MO & that Rutherford Easley & Woodson Easley would know of her death. He remarried to an Elizabeth & they are in Gentry Co,MO in 1860 census. In same area are some of Jesse's CARTER family & Easleys are there & in Howell Co,MO also. After 1860 Jesse & family, plus CARTER kin move to El Dorado, Saline Co, ILL where Jesse enlists in Union army. In same area are quite a few EASLEY family. Joseph Easley was married to a Margaret Bramlett & in Jesse's papers he says he did some work for a man by last name of Bramlett. An Easley married into the MILLER family, & there is a Houston MILLER in that family. Jesse CARTER & Lavina's son was Houston CARTER, so I figure there has to be a connection somewhere, but no one seems to know what it is. I will welcome all comments, because I am out of ideas.
