    Frustration

    Sunday, August 10, 2008, 11:05 PM [General]

I wish there was a way that we could just go back in time and meet our ancestors and then we would know for sure who was who. I have been searching my Rhea family and have so much conflicting marriages that I wonder who married who. Example: I found an article that said Henry Dill Rhea was married to Elizabeth Adams daughter of Daniel Easley Adams and Sarah Ingram, now this info came out of a reputable magazine article, but while searching on Ancestry, a person who said they are an expert at genealogy, says that Elizabeth Adams-Rhea was the daughter of James and Sarah Ingram-Adams. Now I find that more and more families name after each other which makes it a hole lot more confusing. If I could just step back in time and meet these folks then I would know who was married to who and then there would not be all the brick walls. I would be able to find parents for the ones missing parents and I would know exactly who my Greatgreats are.  I would also have the pleasure of seeing first hand what live was like and how they felt about life.  I know everyone wishes the same thing that has run into these brick walls that sometimes needs a jack hammer to break them down.  I am so glad for message boards and sites like this one that maybe answers will come by way of a new cousin. A TIme Machine would be great.

    Taylor made Rice

Quick insight on this side of the family.

Cornelius Bonapart Rice born New York to unknown parents married Jane Elizabeth Mozingo in Distict of Columbia in 1847. The earliest census is 1850, after they are married,  there is an E. Mozingo, age 50, that I figure to be Jane's mother and a S. Mozingo that we know is Jane's younger brother Samuel Gideon Mozingo. Jane, E. and Samuel are all born in Virginia. Cornelius and Jane moved to Black Jack, Kansas around 1856-57 and had thier youngest son Gideon Newton Rice in 1867 in Black Jack, Kansas. Gideon married Celia Ann Bolin/Bolen, born in Ohio thier oldest son Lee Maynard married Ada Elizabeth Foster thier oldest son Paul Lee Rice married Berniece Opal Taylor, youngest daughter of my Mixed up bunch, and they had 1 daugher who had me. If we could just figure out Cornelius and Jane's parents I would be on my way to a hole in a 40 year search by other family members. My 3rd cousins have looked so long and hard but nothing comes up except a Newton Mozingo and Elizabeth Smith but we can't find any proof and Cornelius we can't find anything on any type of parentage since he always said his parents died when he was about 3 and that would be before 1830. Any and all help would be very much appreciated as I would like to help the other family members with more than just my direct line forwards. I am lost and am hoping some one will know something that I have overlooked.
