    Why I am here...

I was bitten by the Genealogy bug as a young girl listening to stories and looking at old pictures with my Grandparents. I became captivated with family history and genealogy. It is so exciting to find proof of an elusive relative that at first glance seems to only have existed through family lore. I do the "genealogy dance" when I run across a document that's been hidden away or prove without a doubt that so and so really did live in whereever and was the father/mother of whichever relative. Over the years I no longer think of geographical locations as such and such town in any state; I now think of counties and townships first and if their location was in a territory or state.

The branches of my family are far reaching and I enjoy connecting with extended relatives. It is great to share general information and research with others. Just this morning via email I received transcriptions of a document I didn't know existed from a relative living in North Carolina (I did the genea dance then too).

The families I am currently researching include:

    Paternal Lines:

Clark - searching for the family of George W. Clark b c 1870 Arkansas.

Hood - looking for the parents of John Hood b c July 1786 (possibly in KY); m Anna McGehee 29 Apr 1816 in Christian, Kentucky; d c1830-1836 in Wayne, Missouri.

McGehee - working on determining parentage of Osborn McGehee b c 1771 Granville, NC (recent DNA results have raised questions regarding the accepted documentation of Osborn's parents).

    Maternal Lines:

Douglas - looking for any type of information regarding Richard H. Douglas b 6 Oct 1869 (possibly Alabama) and died 1 Oct 1910 in Kinta, Haskell, Oklahoma. I have no information on him prior to his marriage to Modena "Effie" Posey in Logan, Arkansas in 1891.

Jones - looking for parentage of Oliver Jones b c1783 (possibly Ohio); m Margaret "Peggy" c1804; d c1839 (probably Arkansas); also trying to determine if family information regarding Choctaw heritage is correct.

Nichols - looking for any information on C.S. or Ceborn Nichols b c1838 North Carolina; m Eliza Jane Pace 16 Aug 1883 Ozark, Franklin, Arkansas; d c1895 Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, Oklahoma.

Pace - Eliza/Elizabeth Jane Pace had twins, Dolly and Adolphus "Dock" b 14 Feb 1878 in Franklin, Arkansas; the chidren were raised with the surname Nichols, but are listed on the 1880 US Federal Census as Pace (grandchildren of head of household); these children were born before Eliza married C.S. and I am trying to determine their biological father; Dolly was my gr-gr Grandma.

Zachary - looking for parents and wife of Albert Napoleon Zachary b c1841 Johnson, Arkansas; m Unknown bef 1860; d c1932 Wilburton, Latimer, Oklahoma.
