    Surnames LALONDE, BADOUR, NELLETT, GROULX, GREW, NEERING, GUOAN, WILLETT, OUELLET, DAVIES and variants of those surnames.
    How did you hear about us I saw a posting in the About.com Genealogy forum.
    Surname Locations Originally from France, into Canada (though a few seem to have migrated through the New England area), then into Michigan around Bay, Arenac, Saginaw, Gladwin, Alcona, Tuscola, and Ogemaw counties.
    Best genealogy moment Sad, but I was raised by a foster family. Back in 2002 I was finally exposed to the 'internet' and started doing a few searches at the local library. Well, I was curious about my birth-mother, and it was then that I found out she had died in 1996 down in Florida. Still...that's what gave me the stiff kick to start learning about my family.
    Specialty Not really a specialty, but I really enjoy scanning in old photos, then trying to enhance them (not too much, just trying to correct fading, exposure, and achieving skin color that doesn't look like the person has extreme sunburn or frostbite.
    Time in history I haven't really done any reading about it...but I would love to have lived in Chicago during the Capone era. If I'd been his bookkeeper, I would have had 3 sets...the 'official' one, Al's, and of course my own - lol.
    Hobbies Chess, audio books, movies, programming (not so much since BASIC sort of died out).
    Music Just about any kind or sort of music...depends on the mood I'm in. I can switch between 'Music of the Night' from the Original London version of "The Phantom of the Opera" to Tone Loc's "Funky Cold Medina" in a heart-beat.
    Books I have gone through several phases, but as a rule I enjoy science fiction, fantasy, horror, sabremetrics (the study of baseball statistics), strange phenomena, comedy and many other genres.
    Movies I really enjoy science fiction films (both old and new), fantasy occasionally (I enjoyed "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, but one of my favorites is "Dragonheart". Spy films (ala James Bond), Alfred Hitchcock thrillers ("North by Northwest" is a great film). War films (my father served during WW2), comedies (The Marx Brothers still crack me up).
    TV I don't watch TV too much anymore, but I enjoy The History Channel, Comedy Central, American Movie Classics, and Turner Classic Movies. Still, my all-time favorite show (from childhood) has to be "Gilligan's Island".

    A few of my favorite things

    One of my favorite sites to check out daily is

    and especially Kimberly's Genealogy Blog.  Another of my favorite things is that marvelous word:  FREE.  In her latest blog entry, Kimberly mentions a beta project by ancestry.com, involving user-input content.  Sounds like a good deal, though there apparently are some strings attached (some deal about 900+ entries, I'm not quite sure at the moment, as I'm presently downloading and installing the software).  Still, that word really does catch my eye when it comes to Genealogy.

    Off and On

    Just a quick note - We're losing our broadband internet access soon, so I'll not be available on a regular basis (I'll check in whenever I can using the local library's wifi connection, though).  So, if anyone messages me, it may take a little time for me to respond.  Thanks.  Hoping everyone has/had a good holiday weekend.
