Best genealogy moment stumbling upon a forgotten cemetery not even documented in town records - where bodies had been reburied from other sites back in 1930's when corps of engineers were building a dam that would create a lake covering existing cemeteries. . . Thus locating the final resting places of relatives I feared were under a lake and not reburied at all - It was very comforting.

Great New Book on Puritan/Pilgrim History - easy to read

    Monday, November 17, 2008, 08:58 PM [General]

I am a big fan of Nathaniel Philbrick - a historian who writes as if he's spinning a yarn, instead of telling historical fact!

In Sept. 2008, he published an amazing follow-up to his 2007 Pulitzer Prize winning book. . . . The new & improved version has charts, lists, maps, etc:

THE MAYFLOWER AND THE PILGRIMS' NEW WORLD - Presented at the reading level of age 13 and up, it is just as marvelous as his Pulitzer Prize winning 2007 book.

For family historians with interest in the Mayflower era of American history, this book is a must read - and a must have in the personal library.

Read more about it & see photos - at my DETAILED REVIEW . . . .

    "Herstory" is my story

    Tuesday, September 30, 2008, 11:06 AM [General]

    Howdy & Welcome!

What's up with my pseudonym and the avitar, "Herstory?"

As a life-long historian and genealogist, I honor and study "herstory" . . . Flora Walker . . .a pioneer of southwestern Colorado (my great grandmother) - and all those who came before us.

I'm excited about this new website and have my mallot ready - so we might break down some old brick walls and find long-lost puzzle pieces . . .together!

And here's a couple articles with quick tips/reminders we might each benefit from:

    Let's start the "Round-up!"

I enjoyed what you had to say and feel the exact same way about finding out about family members that came before me. Thank you for the additional information you posted with genealogy sites, I know personally I can use all the help and assistance I can come across.
